Tattoo After Care In Summer - Do's and Don'ts

Tattoo After Care is even more important in the summer than the winter months as many of the attendees at August's Seattle Tattoo Convention will be aware. As many as 7,000 visitors will have had work done over the three days of the sixth annual convention which brought enthusiasts and Tattoo Artists from as far away as France, such as Graphicaderme and the On the Road Tattoo Group.

When having Tattoos done in the summer months, extra care needs to be taken during the healing process to keep it looking vibrant and beautiful. High factor sunblock to protect your skin and stop the tattoo fading is essential for anything up to three weeks after healing, or at the very least until the peeling stops.

Whilst watering might do your plants good - it will be positively harmful to your newly created artwork. Yes, you can shower - but just enough to get clean and stop your friends and neighbors from holding their noses! Too much water will wash out the inks so forget baths, hot tubs, swimming and surfing for at least a couple of weeks. As for waxing and shaving - don't go there!

Proper tattoo after care will keep it looking crisp and colorful, just like this Gamer's tribute to his favorite characters, but unless you want an imprint don't wear your favorite tight white Tee shirt over your new masterpiece - chances are it will leave a mark. In the interests of keeping on the right side of parents (who don't always look too kindly on your newly inked body) it's not advisable to use your Mom's best sheets on the bed either....

The guys who attended the Convention had some truly spectacular work done, and want to keep it in the best condition so if you couldn't get any sunblock in Seattle , now you know why!
